In this episode, Winston Smith talks with Mike Emlet and Chris Carter about shyness. Their discussion was prompted by a listener’s question: “In social situations I feel painfully shy. Even if I want to try to open up to, and be considerate of others, I can’t help feeling this way, and thus I always feel defensive when I’m interacting with people. I could force myself to speak to others and try to be friendly, but it is forced, and never out of a type of freedom or enjoyment of the other person. How can I love and enjoy people when I constantly feel negatively scrutinized? Are these thoughts and feelings always supposed to be there? What does faith look like in this situation?”
