In this article, James Bjornstad looks at the modern subject of deprogramming and rehabilitation of modern cult members in response to a case arising from the Rev. Sun Myung Moon’s Unification Church. Bjornstad discusses the role and scope of programming in these cults including the components of the programming. He then moves into a discussion of “deprogramming” (reversing the effects of programming) and the options available. The article concludes with a list of groups dealing with freeing cult members and sample daily schedules of various cult groups for comparison.
