In this article, Sue Lutz argues that thankfulness seldom seems to fit the situation we find ourselves in. Lutz maintains that the Bible is full of commands to give thanks to God because it is not our human instinct to do so. Being thankful allows us to be a part of what’s going on in heaven even before we get there; it is our inheritance through Christ. Lutz concludes that this hope enables us to choose our responses to suffering.
