In this article, Steve Smallman presents a sermon on Deuteronomy 5 and the fifth commandment. Smallman argues that our obedience to the revealed will of God is central to the personal ministry of the Holy Spirit. The worst people in terms of exercising authority are the people who have never learned to receive authority. Smallman concludes that all of us, having broken the law, need to run to Christ, who is the perfect lawgiver and who paid the price for our sins. He concludes that you cannot be in genuine submission to Christ if you are in rebellion and alienation from others.
