In this article, Robert Roberts discusses how modern psychologies have infiltrated the church and present as “alternative spiritualities.” Roberts argues that they intend their ‘words’ to be taken to heart, to shape our souls and their therapies are potent methods for planting their ideas in us so that we may grow in the shapes that they ordain. Roberts concludes with an encouragement to engage secular psychologies head-on using discernment and wisdom as we engage with the theories and thoughts of a secular worldview.
