In this article, David Covington argues that Psalm 51 provides a pattern for repentant prayer where the relationship with God has been violated but restored through repentance. Covington uses the pattern of the Psalm to draw relevant application to personal repentance. He concludes that we should seek, in our own repentance, to unmask our own sinful hearts with biblical insight that bites to the bone.
