In this article, Ed Welch examines Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD) and Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). Welch begins by defining the disorders and then moving into a biblical evaluation of the diagnoses. He argues that insight is the ability to see the old (biblical truth) in the new (a new problem). Welch discusses whether “MPD” even exists, how the phenomena so labeled happen, the reliability of memory and the question of demonism. He concludes with practical advice on how to counsel a person who manifests such problems and what goals to set for counseling.
