In this editorial, David Powlison presents the need for articles in the Journal of Biblical Counseling. He describes five types: We need articles (1) that unfold how different parts of Scripture bear on the tasks of counseling; (2) that notice, anticipate, and address the counseling needs of people in our time and place; (3) that develop practical wisdom in counseling methods; (4) that show how counseling connects organically with preaching, teaching, parenting, worship, and every other part of ministry; and (5) that shows both continuities and discontinuities in cross-cultural counseling; that discusses counseling in different institutional settings.
