Part 2 of a 3 part series. In this article, Paul Randolph maintains that family life ought to be modeled on the covenant relationship of God our Father with His children. Randolph argues that the relationship is characterized by commitment, love and law. Each of those three principles fleshes out into specific parental actions that accomplish particular blessings in children’s lives. Randolph concludes that the Old Testament is really one long case study on how God not only loves His children and seeks to fulfill His promises, but also how God disciplines His children. Part 1 is in JBC 15:2, Part 2 in JBC 15:3 and Part 3 in JBC 16:1.
