Part 1 of a 3 part series. In this article, Timothy Keller introduces three elements that make up effective ministry: accurate exposition of Scripture, relevant audience adaptation and application, and the personal authenticity of a heart on fire with the Holy Spirit. Keller then looks in detail at the first element, the engagement with the Bible. He gives numerous questions for evaluating sermon content, and practical guidelines for preparation of messages. Part 1 is in JBC 12:3, Part 2 in JBC 13:1 and Part 3 in JBC 13:2.
